| Technical Support Q & A |
 |
Question: What ports are required for Double-Take?
Answer: The Double-Take service, Double-Take Management Console, Text Client, and Failover Control Center use three different ports. These ports are 1100 TCP and UDP, 1105 UDP, and 1106 TCP. These ports are required to be allowed both inbound and outbound on both source and target servers for communication across a firewall. These ports can be changed either through the Management Console, Registry, or Text Client. Some Double-Take applications like the Double-Take Application Manager, Recovery Manager, Enterprise Install Console, Double-Take Reporting Center, and Full Server Failover Manager also use Microsoft’s WMI (Windows Management Instrumentation). WMI relies on DCOM and RPC and the ports required and how to allow communication across a firewall will be best answered by Microsoft.
